Dr Kel Britton
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Kel graduated with a 1st class BSc (Hons) Natural Science: Chemistry degree with the Open University in July 2021, having completed her degree part-time whilst working and raising her son. She then completed her DPhil, as a student on the OxICFM CDT in 2025, where she worked on a joint research project between the Langton and Bayley groups. Kel's research developed photo-responsive ionophores capable of activating ion transport in synthetic cells. Kel has remained in the Langton group as a PDRA, first having been awarded an EPSRC Postdoctoral Pathway Grant, and since as a Leverhulme funded PDRA in Biological Supramolecular Chemistry and Synthetic Biology. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son, Elliott, and dog, Mojo, skateboarding, surfing, going to concerts and festivals, and socialising.
